3D Icon System
Visual Language Development
This project began as a request to adapt a series of existing 2D UI icons into 3D versions for internal and marketing use. At first, we were tasked with rebuilding a small set of icons that had already been modeled, but needed refinement mainly in proportions, lighting, and alignment with the brand’s visual style.
Once those were complete, the scope expanded significantly: we developed a full 3D badge system, complete with consistent camera angles, a wide color palette, and multiple lighting setups. It became a large-scale production effort with dozens of assets, each one rendered in multiple variations.

A few months after delivering the first version of the library, we were asked to revisit the materials. One of the stakeholders felt the visual tone needed to shift, which led to several weeks of testing and iteration. Eventually, we landed on a glass-like material with translucent color, soft gloss on flat surfaces, and denser, almost solid-looking edges. This version struck the balance we were looking for polished, functional, and aligned with the brand’s evolving visual language.
After material approval, we re-rendered the full set using the new system. It was a long and detail-heavy process, but the result is a scalable 3D icon system now used across product, marketing, and internal documentation.
Can’t show it all here, but feel free to reach out if you’d like to know more.
